Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford was born in the United States. She is an actress as well as a singer and dancer. The first Broadway parts include Wicked Legally Blonde & Hair. Her role in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel earned her an award for the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actress in the Play. Annaleigh is a Tony Award winning actress and director, has spent the majority of her career working alongside well-known directors and actors in film and on television. Ashford will next be seen with Kumail Nannjiani on Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford currently works in Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust with Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch-Bachrach. This film is part of a Hulu Original and will be streamed via Disney DTC. The film will premiere in March 2023. Ashford returns to Broadway and star opposite Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same team who created Hamilton is directing the show. Ashford played Paula Jones, the main actor in Ryan Murphy's upcoming FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on the scandal that brought Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp along with other key actors into the very first impeachment proceedings in America for over a century. Ashford was a part of two seasons on the hit CBS comedy B Positive. The show was developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the legendary Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not new to Broadway won both Tony Drama Desk Awards as in addition to Outer Critics Circle Awards in her character as Essie. The actress has also performed in Broadway on Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde and the first character in the role of Lauren in Kinky Boots for which she was nominated for a Tony Award. Ashford, who was born in Denver, now spends time between Los Angeles and New York.
